Projects to Make With Scrap Fabrics
64We all have it: the pile of scraps. They are small pieces of those cute little fabrics you just can't resist throwing away! They are too small to make something major, but you hang on to them nonetheless so you can finally find a use for them. I have good news for you: that moment is here! It's time to drag out the box! Here are some project ideas to use up your scraps.
Scrappy Bookmarks
You know, with all this talk about ebooks, I can't help wondering if people actually read books anymore. I know I do. Everyone I talk to does. So for the people you know who do a lot of reading, this project would be perfect for them. Best of all? You can use up even the smallest pieces of scrap material this way.
Girl's Shirt
I love this summer shirt that takes colorful material and pairs it with an old tee shirt. Great way to use up both fabric and tees.
Hanging Dish Towels
Get some organization for all those dish towels you have laying around by turning them into a hanging towel.
Fabric Post-it Note Holder Tutorial
I love this idea. Great way to dress up post it notes. Nice for a gift for someone at the office, or even for yourself.
Kids Play Menus
What a great way to use up scrap fabric and create something fun for your kids. Take leftover fabric (and you could use a variety of pieces and just attach them to together) and create a "soft" menu for playtime.
CD Car Holder
There are a couple things I like about this project. One is that it uses up a variety of fabrics, so if you have miss-matched scraps you can use them all with this project. The other is that it helps organize what can be a messy part of life. I don't know about you, but I have tons of CDs without covers laying around, it's crazy to try and get them organized. I could see this in my car or even at home.
Rag Rug
I especially love this idea. It could work well in a mud room, kitchen, back hall, whatever. We have this little spot right by our door and I could see this here very easily. (Takes crocheting skills.)
Scrap Tags
Really love this idea. No sewing involved. Just take your leftover fabric and glue to a cardstock tag. Great to use for a gift tag or scrapbooking.
Mini Bunny Cachets
This project not only uses up scrap fabrics, it's also perfect for Easter, Spring, or just for a gift for someone with a charming country home. The creator of this sachet also says it's the year of the Rabbit so it goes with that too! Cute idea.
Cell Phone Case
This cell phone case project can be especially cool if you have a person with a favorite hobby, and you have leftover fabric to match. Got a Packer fan? Maybe you can whip up a Packer Backer cell phone cover.
